  • A character in the play Too True to be Good, by GeorgeBernard Shaw, first performed in 1932. Meek, an unassuming privatesoldier who proves himself effortlessly superior to his officers,was based on T. E. Lawrence in his Aircraftman Shaw phase. Althoughthe two men became friends, the common assertion that Lawrence chosehis pseudonym out of admiration for Shaw is untrue.
