producer good

Definition

Economics

  • noun a good which is not used by the general public but which is used in the production of other goods. Many goods can be either consumer goods or producer goods, depending on their use: a saw sold to an individual to use in his house is a consumer good, but if it sold to a carpenter to use in the building trade then it is a producer good.
