Producer Sovereignty

Health Economics

  • Not a standard term of art in economics though, on grounds of fairness, it ought to have the same status as consumer sovereignty. If the term existed, it would presumably describe a situation in which producers of goods (and services) determined the character and quantity of outputs, who would consume them and on what terms. The medical care market would seem an obviously approximate case, driven by the information asymmetry that denies (as some seem to believe) non-doctors the ability to know their own needs.
