  • Any inanimate object used on stage during a play, not includingcostumes, scenery, or furniture. The term is short for stage property.Articles carried on to the stage by actors are called hand props,those for personal use (e.g. glasses, cigarettes) being actor'sprops and the remainder manager's props. All props areultimately the responsibility of the stage manager.
