  • An arc welding method that involves operating a power source between low and high current levels. The high current level, called a "pulse," forces an electrode drop to the workpiece, while thelow current level, or "background," maintains the arc between pulses. Major benefits of the process include better arc characteristics and greatly reduced spatter and fume generation.
