Quadrantids

Definition

Astronomy

  • Often-impressive meteor shower observed in the first few days of January. Their radiant is in Draco but they are named after the now defunct constellation Quadrans. The Quadrantids are distinguished by being the ‘sharpest’ major meteor shower, with very high hourly rates for a period of just a few hours on January 3, implying a very narrow stream of meteoroids.
