  • A focused strategy for organizing commercial pharmaceuticals research based on knowledge of the workings of proteins in human biology. Cimetidine, the prototypical H2-receptor antagonist, was one of the first drugs produced via this method. It was pioneered by the physiologist and pharmacologist Nobel Laureate Sir James Black.
