rechargeable cell

Definition

Electronics

  • A cell whose available energy can be replenished after discharge, with the process being able to be repeated safely multiple times. Examples include lithium-ion cells, and nickel-metal hydride cells. This contrasts with a non-rechargeable cell, whose manner of discharge does not lend itself to recharging. Also called storage cell (1), or secondary cell.
