  • (Das Rote Sprachrohr) Germany's first and most famousagitprop company, which performed communist propaganda plays,revues, and choral works at factories, workers' clubs, and similarvenues. It was established in 1927 by M. Valletin and the followingyear presented Hallo, Kollege Jungarbeiter (Hello, YoungColleagues), an episodic piece about the exploitation of workers.In 1929 the Red Megaphone toured the Soviet Union with its choralpresentation Dritte Internationale (Third International).In 1931 the company adapted Epic Theatre techniques for Songof the Red United Front. It was disbanded and some members arrestedwhen the Nazis came to power in 1933.
