  • In an amplifier or system, feedback which is in phase with the input signal, thus reinforcing it. While this results in an increase in gain, an excess can destabilize amplification, and produce distortion and noise. howl may occur, for instance, if positive feedback exceeds a given threshold. Also called regeneration (2), or positive feedback.
