  • On a keyboard, a key which when pressed serves to inform the computer that the user wishes the entered information to be processed. For instance, once the information requested by prompt is given, the enter key may be pressed. It may also have program-specific functions, such as its use within a word processing application to signal the end of a paragraph. Also called return (4), or enter key.
