reverse piezoelectric effect

Definition

Electronics

  • The mechanical deformation of certain crystals or ceramics when exposed to an electric field. Conversely, direct piezoelectric effect is the generation of an electric charge by subjecting certain crystals or ceramics to mechanical strain. Both are complementary manifestations of the piezoelectric effect. Also called inverse piezoelectric effect, inverse piezoelectricity, or indirect piezoelectricity.
