- The manners in which a robotic manipulator or its components can move. A robotic manipulator with six degrees of freedom would have three in the arm and three in the wrist: vertical movement, radial traverse, rotational traverse, wrist pitch, wrist roll, and wrist yaw. Also called robotic degrees of freedom, or degrees of freedom (2).
