Construction

  • An oil obtained from safflower seeds that has properties similar to linseed oil and is used in paints.

Food

  • A mild-flavoured, high polyunsaturated oil from the seeds of the safflower, which is a good source of vitamin E. Not suitable for deep-frying. Used for margarine manufacture and in salad dressings. Contains about 10 per cent saturated, 15 per cent monounsaturated and 75 per cent polyunsaturated fat.
