  • noun one of the horizontal lines of phosphor, or phosphor dots, on the inside of a CRT or monitor. The monitor’s picture beam sweeps along each scan line to create the image on the screen.

  • A horizontal line that is detected, read, displayed, or produced by a scanning device such as an optical scanner or CRT.
