• a white wine hybrid grape variety, a cross between Riesling and Sylvaner grapes, that is widely grown in the Rhine region of Germany. It produces good-quality white wine with high alcohol and sugar levels and because it suffers easily from the Botrytis cinerea fungus it is generally used to produce sweet, late harvest wines.
