  • A bistable circuit which converts an input signal of varying waveform into a square wave output by a switching action which is triggered at a specified point within the positive and negative swing of said input signal. Used, for instance, in binary logic circuits with high noise immunity. Also called Schmitt trigger circuit, or Schmitt circuit.
