  • adjective dirty, unpleasant, distasteful, shabby and disreputable. This word, which is used particularly by young people, may be a nursery version of ‘disgusting’ or an invention influenced by ‘scum’ and ‘fuzz’. Scuzzy has been heard in North America since the late 1960s but to date has not been adopted elsewhere, except by a handful of journalists.
