  • cream to black oval seeds from the seed pods of an annual plant, Sesamum indicum, mainly grown in China, Central America and South West USA. After dry-roasting they have a pleasant nutty taste and contain about 50 per cent oil. Used in bread and cakes, to make tahini and to add texture to other foods.
