SG ball

  • noun a type of cricket ball manufactured in India and used in Test matches there. The SG ball, so-called because it is made by the company Sanspareils Greenlands, uses thicker string in the stitching and thus has a more prominent seam than the Kookaburra ball. It is also said to have better shape-retention properties, an advantage on India‚Äôs hard, dry wickets.
