  • A room or similar enclosure which blocks the effects of an electric field, while allowing free passage to magnetic fields. A shielded room usually consists of a network of parallel wires which provides a low-resistance path to ground. Used, for instance, for testing emissions and susceptibility of components, circuits, devices, equipment, systems, materials, and the like. Also called shielded enclosure, screen room, screening room, shield room, shielding room, shield enclosure, Faraday cage, Faraday shield, or Faraday screen.
