  • A vertical joint between an old and a new brick wall, made by cutting a slot in the old wall and filling it with brick projecting from the new wall.
  • A joint in plumbing in which one pipe slips within another and the seal is made by a pressure device fitting over the joint, often threaded to the larger pipe.
