  • An automated home that conserves energy by using electronic sensors that regulate the operation of systems including HVAC, lighting, appliances, security, etc.

Electronics

  • A house, such as that equipped with smart appliances, with a given degree of automation. Such a dwelling may enable, for instance, remotely turning on the heat and/or lights, starting the washing machine, rolling the drapes, taking a peek at an indoor camera before entering, and so on. Features may be accessed via a cell phone, PDA, a computer linked to the internet, and the like. Also called smart home.
