• Consisting of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or arising from matter whose state is solid (1).
• Based on, utilizing, or consisting of materials which are solids (1), especially crystalline semiconductor materials. The function of that which is solid-state usually depends on electrical, magnetic, and/or optical phenomena occurring within solids, such as the movements of charge carriers in response to light. Examples include solid-state components, circuits, and devices.
