• The location in the southern hemisphere where the magnetic dip is 90°. The corresponding spot in the northern hemisphere is the north magnetic pole. At each of these places, the magnetic meridians converge. The south magnetic pole does not coincide with the south geographic pole, and the position of both magnetic poles vary over time. Also called south pole (2), magnetic south pole, or negative pole (2).
