Wine can be fully sparkling (pétillant in French, frizzante in Italian, spritzig in German, crackling in the US) or slightly so (mousseux in French, spumante in Italian). In French crémant refers to an intermediate degree of effervescence. Spain describes sparkling wines as espumoso and Portugal as espumante.
