- The rated impedance of the voice coil of a loudspeaker. Most speakers have a nominal value assigned, although said impedance varies, depending on the frequency being reproduced. common values are 4, 8, and 16 ohms, and the driving amplifier must be matched to avoid diminished performance, failure, or damage. Also called loudspeaker impedance.
