  • Spearman's r (Greek rho) (sometimes rs) is used when the data to be correlated are ordinal in character: a means of measuring the strength of the association between ordinally ranked entities. It has limits of +1 and -1. Named after the British psychologist and statistician Charles Edward Spearman (1863-1945).
