• A gigantic theater designed by Steele MacKaye forthe 1893 Chicago World's Fair but never built. MacKaye intended itto seat 12,000; the 25 moving stages would have incorporated the mostadvanced European stage equipment. The first production was to havebeen The World Finder, for which Dvoř├ík composedhis New World Symphony.

    Financial problems prevented the grand design from being realizedand MacKaye died the following year. A scale model had been constructedand demonstrated, however, and theater architects later employed someof its new ideas for the stage.
