  • For a given bandwidth of electromagnetic radiation consisting of a continuous interval of frequencies, the total power divided by the specified bandwidth. Usually expressed in multiples of watts per hertz, such as mW/Hz, or kW/Hz. Used, for instance, to analyze the power content of complex signals. Also called spectral power density, spectral energy density, or power spectral density.
