# spectral density

## Definition

### Electronics

- For a given bandwidth of electromagnetic radiation consisting of a
__continuous__interval of frequencies, the total__power__divided by the specified bandwidth. Usually expressed in multiples of watts per__hertz__, such as mW/Hz, or kW/Hz. Used, for instance, to analyze the power content of complex signals. Also called__spectral__power density, spectral__energy density__, or power spectral density.
