Any scanning which follows the shape of a spiral, or approximately so.
In radars, scanning in which the pattern of the beam approximates the shape of a spiral.
In a video tape device, such as a VCR, recording and/or playback in which the heads contact the tape following a diagonal path which forms a spiral. The tape is wrapped at an angle around a rapidly rotating drum upon which the video heads are mounted.
In fax, scanning which follows the shape of a spiral.
