Slang
- verb to look for a sexual partner, attempt to seduce. Often in the form ‘out spratting’, the equivalent of out trouting which may have inspired it. It may also be based on the phrase ‘a handful of sprats’ (a variant of the more recent bit of fish), meaning successful sexual contact with a female.
