  • A circuit in a radio receiver that suppresses noise when listening to programming or other signals. Also called quieter, quieting circuit, or noise quieter.
  • A circuit utilized for reducing of the volume of, or silencing sounds. Also called muting circuit (1).
  • A circuit utilized for manually or automatically disabling of a given input or output. Also called muting circuit (2).
