- A fish pie from Cornwall made with whole pilchards cooked beneath a crust of pastry with their heads poking up through the pastry around the rim of the dish. The pie also contains a sauce flavoured with onion, bacon, parsley, vinegar or cider and seasoning, which is thickened with breadcrumbs and eggs.
