  • A carrier wave that is utilized to modulate another carrier. Used, for instance, to carry additional signals such as audio or other information.
  • In color TV, the carrier whose sidebands are added to the luminance signal, in order to convey the color information. The frequency of this carrier signal is set at 3.579545 MHz. Also called color subcarrier, color carrier, chrominance carrier, or chrominance subcarrier.
