- A circuit, device, or instrument whose output signal sweeps through a given frequency range. Such a signal generator may produce single scans, periodic scans, continuous scans, or the like. The rate at which scans are performed is usually adjustable.
- A sweep generator (1) utilized for testing, calibration, and/or troubleshooting. The response of any tested device is usually monitored via an oscilloscope.
- A circuit which generates sweeps (1).
