symmetric encryption



  • An encryption method in which the same key is used for encryption and decryption of messages. The fundamental concern with this method is insuring that the intended recipient indeed is the one to receive the key. Also called symmetric cryptography, secret-key cryptography, secret-key encryption, or private key cryptography.
