  • A device or instrument which indicates whether two values, magnitudes, voltages, frequencies, phases, or the like, are synchronized. An oscilloscope, for instance, may indicate the synchronization, or any difference in phases, frequencies, or the like which are being monitored. Used, for instance, to verify that two or more generators are in phase.
