  • A theater in Paris. As the Athénée-Comique itwas originally known for melodrama and light entertainment. In 1934the director Louis Jouvet took over the Athénéeand began to produce serious plays by Molière and Jean Giraudouxamongst others. The theater's leading position declined after Jouvet'sdeath in 1951.
