The Four Ps



  • A "merry interlude" by John Heywood, written in about1520. The four main characters, a Palmer, a Pardoner, a Potticary(apothecary), and a Pedlar, have a dispute as to which of them cantell the greatest lie. When the Palmer says he has never seen a womanlose her temper the other three immediately concede defeat. The pieceis considered an important link between the medieval and Elizabethandramas. see interlude.
