Construction

  • An overcurrent protective device containing a heater element and a renewable fusible member that opens the circuit. The thermal cutout is not designed to interrupt short circuit currents.

Electronics

  • A cutout which disconnects a component or circuit when the operating temperature exceeds a given threshold. Its function is usually automatic. Also spelled thermal cut-out.
