Thorne-Zytkow Object

Definition

Astronomy

  • Stars looking like normal red giants or supergiants but containing a neutron star at their core. Such objects, proposed by US astronomers Kip Thorne and Anna Zytkow, might form in double stars of which one member degenerates into a neutron star. None are known to have been observed.
