  • The minimum signal level which produces a given effect, result, or response, such as detection, activation, or operation. For example, the lowest input-signal amplitude which produces a perceptible change in the output of a component, circuit, device, piece of equipment, or system. Also called minimum detectable signal, or minimum discernable signal.
