throat microphone



  • A microphone which is worn around the throat of the user, and which picks up the vibrations of the larynx directly. Ideally, such a microphone transmits the speaker's voice only, and no background noise. Used, for instance, by emergency personnel, or in airplane cockpits. Also called laryngophone.
