tiswas
Definition
Slang
- noun a state of confusion and/or flustered excitement. Usually found in the expressions ‘all of a tiswas’ or ‘in a (bit of a) tiswas’. This folksy, light-hearted term probably comes from ‘it is – it was’, that is, expressing a disorientation in time, or else is an elaborated form of the colloquial ‘tizz’ and ‘tizzy’.
