  • A vertical or horizontal bar which contains icons and/or buttons which can be clicked upon to access functions, features, or the like, within a given application, such as a word processor, Web browser, or image editor. A toolbar can usually be customized, moved, or hidden, and examples include taskbars and tool palettes. Also called toolbox (2).
