• An electromagnetic device which utilizes one or more saturable reactors to obtain amplification. Depending on the design, a magnetic amplifier can achieve a very large power gain, and may be used, for instance, in servo systems requiring sizeable amounts of power to move heavy loads. Also called magnetic amplifier.
