• A sudden and spectacular change of scene in the English pantomime.It is usually effected using such devices as falling flaps,rise-and-sink mechanisms, and transparent backcloths (seetransparency). The purpose is generally to suggest a magicaltransformation, such as the transportation of Aladdin's castle bythe sorceror Abanazer.
