  • A small speaker designed to reproduce frequencies above a given threshold, such as 2000 or 5000 Hz. Depending on the design and components, a tweeter may accurately reproduce frequencies well beyond the limit of human hearing. Such a speaker unit is usually utilized with others, such as woofers and midranges, for reproduction across the full audio spectrum. Also called high frequency speaker.
