Value Function

Definition

Health Economics

  • This is a term used by Kahneman and Tversky (1979) to differentiate discussion of preference orderings from conventional assumptions of utility functions having positive and continuously falling slopes (diminishing marginal utility). As can be seen from the figure there is a point of inflection at which the slope begins to decrease. This characteristic is a feature of prospect theory.
